Neon says you hit your branch limit. Here is the number.
Neon caps branches per project by plan: 10 on Free and Launch, 25 on Scale. On Free, branch creation simply fails once you are at 10 — there is no pay-as-you-go option for more until you upgrade.

Branches included per plan
| Plan | Branches included per project | Extra branches |

| Launch | 10 | $1.50 per branch-month, prorated hourly, up to 5,000 per project |
| Scale | 25 | $1.50 per branch-month, prorated hourly, up to 5,000 per project |

Why this shows up fast in CI
Every pull request that creates its own preview branch, plus any branch used for a manual test, counts toward the same per-project allowance. A project with a branch-per-PR workflow and no cleanup step reaches 10 within days, not months.

The fix
- Delete merged or stale branches; a CI step that removes the PR branch on merge (or after a few days of inactivity) is the usual permanent fix.
- On Free, that is the only option — there is no metered path to extra branches below Launch.
- On Launch or Scale, branches past the included allowance are billed at $1.50 per branch-month, prorated hourly, up to 5,000 per project; ask for an increase past that in the console feedback form.

Branching on Scribase
A Scribase project at $25 a month includes 10 agent/preview branches with copy-on-write storage and no separate per-branch metering below that; branches left open do not grow the bill the way an uncapped per-branch price can.

Questions people ask
How many branches does Neon Free allow?
10 per project. Creating an 11th fails until one is deleted or the project moves to a paid plan.
Can I pay for more branches on the Free plan?
No. Metered extra branches are a paid-plan feature (Launch and Scale); Free has a hard cap with no overage option.
What does an extra branch cost on a paid plan?
$1.50 per branch-month, prorated hourly, up to a project maximum of 5,000 branches.
